HE Dr Lachezar Nikolov Matev

Talk: Bulgaria is one of the oldest European states with a 20-century-old history and traditions. Modern Bulgaria is situated in Southeastern Europe, in the Balkan Peninsula – a busy crossroads of ancient cultures.

For centuries, the roads passing through the territory of the country have been connecting Europe with Asia and Africa. Four common European transport corridors, connecting West and North Europe with eastern and southern parts of the continent cross roads here.

Bulgaria is known for its picturesque nature and rich cultural heritage. According to the statistics, the country ranks third in Europe only after Greece and Italy for the number of its valuable archaeological monuments.

Bulgaria enjoys very stable economic development with more than 6% economic growth. It is one of the best destinations for direct foreign investment – the UK was the biggest investor in Bulgaria.

It is currently a booming tourist destination. Last year almost half a million British went to Bulgaria and many bought properties.

Advantages of market in Bulgaria: stable political, 10% flat corporate and income tax. The young and disabled are reimbursed their salaries for the first three years. Operational costs are low too.

Bulgaria is a main exporter of energy and is building new power stations.
