OBJECTIVES OF FOREIGN POLICY OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Quoted in his speech:
"Bosnia and Herzegovina is first of all a smaller country, than Western Balkan country, Southeastern European Country and European country in accordance with the whole foreign policy is formed and conducted.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is not imune on the processes of globalization and present world economic and financial crisis is factor which highly influances our foreing policy.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been authorized to conduct Bosnia and Herzegovina foreign policy. Promotion, representation of interests and, on behalf of Bosnia and Herzegovina, acting within international relations have been based on the provisions of the Constitution of BiH, legislation, decisions and viewpoints of Presidency, Parliament, Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Bosnia and Herzegovina foreign policy is first of all transparent and in line with the following priorities:
• Preservation and protection of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina within its internationally recognized borders;
• Outmost priority is promotion of cooperation with neighboring countries – Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro on the basis of common interest and principles of equality, mutual respect and respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. This also represent the permanent priority of Bosnia and Herzegovina foreign policy;
• Full and consistent implementation of the General Peace Agreement (Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement);
• Bosnia and Herzegovina inclusion into European integration processes, short-term membership in the NATO and long-term membership in the EU;
• Participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in multilateral activities, in particular, as part of the system of the United Nations (UN), the Council of Europe, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC), etc.
• Promotion of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a partner in international economic relations, and promotion of the activities aiming at the admission of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the World Trade Organization (WTO);
• Promotion of interests and development possibilities of economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina is becoming important and the most significant foregin policy objective.
As Sir Winston Churchill once said 'There are no eternal friends or eternal enemies, only eternal interests'. For foreign policy priorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina visible through persuing the peace, stability, democracy, freedom and economic prosperity we shall no miss friends and interest."
