His new book ‘Old Links and New Ties: Power and Persuasion in the Network Age’ was central to the talk.

In this age of innovation people are challenging everything and we are decentralising power bases. He called for greater networking in the world in which we live.  There should be a blood transfusion because people have the memory of tadpoles and ignorance can prevail.  The political class in Europe is fragmenting and the political class in Europe is under siege.  We must use our talents and develop our links through soft power in order to enable this country to survive in a new network world.
