Garry Hindle's talk centred on specific approaches to Terrorism Prevention with focus on the UK’s counter-terrorism strategy, particularly the role of the PREVENT strand.
He is Head of Security and Counterterrorism at RUSI (Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies) and leads the Homeland Security & Resilience Department’s work on counter-terrorism. He is the author of numerous analysis, commentary and journal articles on terrorism and radicalisation. Garry has led a number of research projects examining counter-terrorism strategies and regularly organises high-level conferences and seminars for experts and practitioners.
Garry is often called upon to comment in the press on domestic security matters. He previously worked as a political researcher in international affairs. In an earlier incarnation he worked in industry as lead of a team of business process analysts. Prior to this he attended the University of Reading where he obtained an MA in International Security Studies, graduating with Distinction.
